The Role of The Farm Credit Council

The Farm Credit Council is the national trade association representing Farm Credit institutions before Congress, the Executive Branch, the Farm Credit Administration, and other national, state, and local entities. The Council provides the mechanism for member grassroots involvement in the development of positions and policies with respect to federal legislation and government actions that impact Farm Credit.

This Director Leadership Training breakout session will provide interested Farm Credit System directors with a foundation for better understanding and interfacing with the Farm Credit Council, including how the trade association interacts in the political/policy environment, its bylaws and resolutions process, board composition and structure and Key Corporate Objectives.

Learner Outcomes:

  1. Provide Farm Credit Directors/attendees with a working knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the Farm Credit Council.
  2. Summarize the duties of the national trade association and the System leadership role the FCC Board provides.
  3. Relate and describe specific types of issues the Farm Credit Council is currently engaged and potential outcomes.
